Everything We Know So Far About the Google Pixel 7a: Rumours, Specs, and Release Date

Posted by iCoverLover on Apr 30, 2023

Google's latest phone, the Pixel 7, is still the talk of the web. It comes in two variants, the smaller Pixel 7 and the more powerful Pixel 7 Pro. The Pixel 7 version is equipped with a 6.3-inch screen with a resolution of 2,400 x 1,080 pixels, while the more advanced Pixel 7 Pro has a 6.7-inch screen with a resolution of 3,120 x 1,440 pixels. The Pixel 7 Pro is also physically slightly larger and heavier.

Google is said to introduce another model of the Pixel 7 series soon. It is said to be a more affordable model called the Pixel 7a, which is the direct successor to the popular (at least in the US market) Pixel 6a. User expectations are high, as they expect to get a meaningful upgrade for a reasonable (somewhat higher according to the leaks) price after a one-year wait.

Upgraded Cameras

If online rumours are to be believed, the Google Pixel 7a smartphone will be equipped with way better digital cameras. Users are said to have available cameras with a resolution of 64 million and 13 million pixels. A webcam with a resolution of 10.8 million pixels should be available for online conferences.

Battery

A slightly larger 4,500mAh battery compared to the Pixel 6a's 4,410mAh cell is expected. A faster charging would also be appreciated, as the Pixel 6a, supports 18W and takes a long time to charge. For now, it is unknown if faster charging will be available for the Pixel 7a.

Wireless Charging

Wireless charging is another long-awaited addition to Google's range of mid-range phones. The Pixel 7a promises to change that. There will be support for wireless charging, but the power will be limited to only 5 watts.

Design

The premium look will be given by the housing, which will be made entirely of ceramics. Its overall design keeps things pretty similar to last year's Pixel 7 lineup, with a camera shelf and glossy glass back panel. The Pixel 7a should also offer two new colour options - Sea (light blue) and Coral.

Functionalities

Although the Google Pixel 7a smartphone will belong to the middle price range, it should bring two important functionalities. This is about the possibility of unlocking the smartphone with the help of the face as well as the fingerprint reader under the screen. This should, of course, significantly improve the user experience. The rest of the hardware should include the Google Tensor G2 mobile processor, 8 GB of system memory, 128 GB of data storage space and an OLED screen with a 6.1-inch or 15.5-centimetre diagonal.

Expected Key Features

  • RAM: 8 GB
  • Processor: Google Tensor G2
  • Rear Camera: 64 MP + 12 MP
  • Front Camera: 8 MP
  • Battery: 4410 mAh
  • Display: 6.1 inches (15.49 cm)
  • Operating System: Android v13
  • Refresh Rate: 90 Hz

Price

It is said that the Pixel 7a will start at a higher price than the $749 Pixel 6a. With all the new upgrades, many believe the increase in the price is reasonable.

Conclusion

The newest of the Google Pixel 7 range should be presented on May 10 this year, at the Google I/O conference. There are also some rumours that we might learn more about a few other products, such as the Pixel Fold and we can’t wait.
