Google Translate is a free online translator that has been available since 2007. Users can directly translate by entering text on its website, choosing the language pair themselves or allowing the translator to automatically detect the source language. At present, it supports a staggering 108 different global languages. As such, its integration with Google's Gmail email service is increasingly popular.

Gmail and Google Translate

Until now, translating emails within Google's Gmail was only possible using a web browser. Fortunately, this is no longer the case. The ability to translate messages within Gmail is now also available to mobile device users, whether they're on Google's Android operating system or Apple's iOS.

This new feature has been available for free download to Android mobile device users since 8th August. All users should receive it within 15 days from this date, as an update to the Gmail mobile app. Users of Apple mobile devices, however, will have to wait until 21st August to access this feature. After the 15-day period, it should be available to all users.

Translating emails within Gmail will be facilitated via a special toolbar that will appear directly beneath the email message. To translate messages on your mobile, just tap "Translate" on the banner that can be dismissed and select your desired language. Most of the heavy lifting will be done by Google Translate. If users wish, they can also disable this toolbar as per their preference.

As our world becomes increasingly connected, the need for seamless communication across different languages becomes paramount. Google's move to integrate Google Translate within Gmail for mobile users reflects a conscious effort to bridge linguistic barriers. For business professionals, travellers, and everyday users, this integration will undoubtedly simplify correspondence, ensuring no message is lost in translation.
